Bags larger than a standard backpack, 16' x 20', are not allowed on Alcatraz Island. Over-sized packs and luggage are not permitted. No exceptions. There are also no storage lockers at Pier 33.
No one under the age of 18 can be without an adult.
The contour of Alcatraz Island is rugged and steep. The distance between the dock and Alcatraz prison is about 1/4 mile (.4km), and the elevation change is 130 feet (40 meters).
Sustainable Easy Access Transport (S.E.A.T.) is available to those with mobility impairment.
Consuming foods is only allowed at picnic areas.
